Introduction

WELCOME TO ADVENTURESTRIPS.com, a free web site dedicated to profiling the illustrious careers of both the characters and the creators that pioneered the adventure strips and comic books from the past. These adventurers paved the way for millions of readers around the world to follow their daring exploits, thrill to their hairbreadth escapes and hang on the edge of their seats for the next thrilling installment. The heroes, heroines, villains, femme fatales and creatures from other dimensions. The secret agents, two-fisted cowboys, nosey reporters, brave soldiers, masked vigilantes, evil aliens and of course, the loyal yet goofy sidekicks.

Crane, Hergé, Sickles, Caniff, Raymond, Toth, Eisner, Cole, Foster, Kurtzman, Hogarth... the list goes on.

There has been plenty written about the comic strips and comic books of the past, both in print and the 'Net. Sadly, due to the vastness of the World Wide Web, the fragility of paper and the slow march of time, much of this material focusing on adventure strips and their creators is slowly being lost. At best, it is time consuming and hard to find.

This site is intended as a home for some of the disparate articles, interviews and artwork spread across the internet, buried in musty magazines or sitting in pride of place on some collector's shelf. As long as it can be legally reproduced here and is relevant to the site's mission, it can find a permanent home.

CONTRIBUTIONS OF CONTENT ARE ALWAYS WELCOME. The success of AdventureStrips.com, by it's very nature, depends on contributions of relevant material. If you are the author of an article about a classic adventure strip, conducted an interview with a creator or have access to information that would be appropriate for the site, please get in touch. If you have an old web site with content about adventure strips and their creators and you would like this 'moved' to AdventureStrips.com, that would be fine, too. Of course, scans of original strip and comic art from private collections are also very welcome.

Full copyright credit and ownership bylines will accompany any contributions. All work will remain the property of the copyright holder. AdventureStrips.com will only serve as a home and outlet for the material, with no legal claim to it.

While material submitted may not automatically be accepted, all content will be considered and emails replied to. Any content accepted will be converted to the AdventureStrips.com design and navigation format, for ease of viewing.
